Fering Technologies, established in 2019, unveiled the Fering Pioneer X, a revolutionary military grade electric vehicle with exceptional off-road capabilities. The vehicle's design allows it to operate across hostile terrains at any latitude from -50°C to +50°C, without the need for frequent refuelling, meeting the British Army's requirements and exceeding expectations. The Pioneer X features a carbon fibre modular central spine, aluminum elements, and innovative systems including a battery system, suspension system, powertrain system, and fabric body system. It is powered by two electric motors and a set of lithium-titanium-oxide batteries developed in-house by Fering. With a range extender capable of using hydrogen fuel cells or a heavy fuel generator, the Pioneer X can travel up to 7,010 km, reducing fuel consumption and operational costs significantly.
The vehicle's off-road mobility is achieved through an advanced suspension system, offering variable ride heights and two operating modes for different terrains. The Pioneer X can overcome various obstacles, including high steps, steep ramps, and side slopes, with a maximum speed of 130 km/h. Additionally, the vehicle is fully submersible with an IP 68 rating, allowing it to wade through water obstacles effortlessly. It can accommodate a five-man crew in its standard configuration, with additional seating options available for different mission requirements. The Pioneer X's payload capacity is 1.85 tonnes, excluding fuel mass, making it a versatile and robust military asset for a range of operations.
