GeoPura, a prominent UK sustainable power solutions provider, is expanding its hydrogen production facility at Croft Farm in Doncaster. This expansion aims to offer low-carbon hydrogen to various industries, supporting Britain's net-zero goals and reinforcing South Yorkshire's position as a hub for renewable energy innovation. The Croft Farm facility, once a coal spoil heap and landfill site, now focuses on green energy production using biogas and solar PV to power GeoPura's electrolyser. The hydrogen produced will serve as a zero-emission energy alternative for industries like events, film and TV production, construction, and data centers, which often face grid capacity limitations. Unlike diesel generators, GeoPura's hydrogen fuel cells emit only water as a byproduct, contributing to a cleaner environment. The project received backing from global investors and the UK's National Wealth Fund, highlighting government support for local economies and the domestic supply chain. This investment is expected to foster economic growth and job opportunities in South Yorkshire, positioning the region at the forefront of the UK's hydrogen transition. GeoPura's CEO, Andrew Cunningham, emphasized the significance of green hydrogen in balancing the grid, complementing renewable energy sources, and promoting local collaboration and innovation. The project symbolizes a shift from fossil fuels to renewables, with the farm's owner, Peter Maxwell, expressing pride in transitioning to green hydrogen for a more sustainable future. Notably, Geo Green Power installed a significant solar PV system at Croft Farm to enhance hydrogen production, marking a milestone for renewable energy and hydrogen technology. GeoPura is now actively engaging businesses to trial hydrogen and access its green hydrogen supply, fostering the adoption of hydrogen across multiple industries and underlining the region's leadership in sustainable energy.
