Hyundai Motor Group has announced a strategic partnership with three prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) – IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, and IIT Madras – to establish the Hyundai Center of Excellence (CoE) at IIT Delhi. The primary focus of this collaboration is to drive advancements in batteries and electrification to cater to the competitive Indian automotive market.
The CoE will house research activities aimed at developing cutting-edge technologies in the field of batteries, electrification, software, and hydrogen fuel cells. This move signifies Hyundai's commitment to investing approximately US$7 million between 2025 and 2029 to support research efforts in these areas.
Additionally, the partnership seeks to contribute to the development of an electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem in India by aligning with the government's initiatives for expanding EV adoption.
