Lhyfe and Fives have entered into a memorandum of understanding to offer complete decarbonised solutions for industry, ranging from hydrogen production to combustion processes. This collaboration aims to accelerate the energy transition by enabling the use of hydrogen in industrial applications without the need for extensive equipment modifications. By leveraging Lhyfe's expertise in green hydrogen production and Fives' leadership in industrial combustion, the partnership targets industries like metals, glass, and cement in Europe and North America. The utilization of hydrogen in combustion processes is highlighted as a key strategy to reduce the carbon footprint of industrial operations significantly. For instance, the adoption of hydrogen in a secondary aluminium furnace could lead to a substantial yearly reduction of over 4,000 tonnes in CO2 emissions. Lhyfe's production units, powered by renewable energy, have already been operational since 2021, with additional sites planned or under construction across Europe. Fives, with over a century of experience in industrial engineering and a strong focus on hydrogen technologies for the last 50 years, offers a wide range of proven hydrogen burners under its various brands to cater to diverse industries. Both companies express optimism and commitment towards addressing climate change and enhancing the sustainability and efficiency of industrial processes through their collaboration.
