The Nagoya Port Authority in Japan has taken a significant step towards sustainability by introducing hydrogen fuel cell-powered forklifts for companies operating within the port. This initiative was overseen by Tokyo-based gas firm Suzuki Shokan, with several terminal operators and logistics businesses benefiting from this innovative technology. The deployment of these forklifts aimed to enhance operational efficiency while reducing emissions. Throughout a five-day period in August 2024, the hydrogen-powered forklifts were refuelled with hydrogen, showcasing the practicality of this eco-friendly solution. The Nagoya Port Authority also focused on optimizing hydrogen refuelling operations within the port to ensure a reliable supply chain. The Japan International Freight Forwarders Association (JIFFA) played a crucial role in coordinating the hydrogen deliveries and emphasized the importance of strategic planning for refuelling locations. While the manufacturer of the forklifts remains undisclosed, the collaboration between Fusion Fuel, Toyota, and other companies signifies a broader interest in green hydrogen technology.
