The Pacific Northwest Hydrogen Hub (PNWH2) has been awarded $27.5 million by the U.S. Department of Energy to advance clean hydrogen production using renewable resources. This funding, part of a potential $1 billion cost share, aims to support the development of hydrogen hubs across the U.S. PNWH2, comprising sites in Washington, Oregon, and Montana, plans to leverage abundant renewable resources to produce clean hydrogen through electrolysis. The project targets a significant reduction in carbon emissions, equivalent to 400,000 gasoline-powered cars annually. With the involvement of partners like Air Liquide and Amazon, the hub will cater to various sectors such as agriculture, transportation, and power generation. The project has entered Phase 1, focusing on planning, analysis, design activities, and community engagement to establish itself as a key player in the clean energy sector. The Pacific Northwest Hydrogen Association and partners are set to host a webinar to share further details and address queries regarding the hub's initiatives.
