Yanmar Holdings Co., Ltd. and Amogy have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to revolutionize marine power generation by integrating Amogy’s mature ammonia-cracking technology into Yanmar’s hydrogen internal combustion engine (H2 ICE). The collaboration, stemming from Yanmar Ventures' investment in Amogy in 2023, aims to offer low-cost hydrogen fuel for marine applications. Amogy’s technology uses advanced catalyst materials to efficiently convert ammonia into hydrogen and nitrogen at lower temperatures, leading to reduced heating and maintenance needs. Ken Kawabe from Yanmar highlighted the alignment of the project with their commitment to sustainability, emphasizing the potential of combining Amogy’s technology with H2 ICE for decarbonization. Seonghoon Woo, CEO of Amogy, shared the excitement for the partnership, stating that integrating their technology with Yanmar's engines can drive progress in clean energy solutions within the marine sector.
