Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has recently completed a significant solar energy project that involved installing solar panels at 22 buildings and facilities. The initiative, aligned with Dubai's vision for sustainable development and reduced carbon footprint, is expected to generate around 32 million kilowatt-hours annually, leading to a reduction of approximately 10,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year. The project emphasizes RTA's commitment to environmental sustainability and clean energy solutions, following strategies like the Zero-Emissions Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050. Moreover, RTA has expanded its solar capacity at various sites and is exploring green hydrogen adoption in partnership with ENOC Group for hydrogen-powered buses, aiming to enhance sustainability. By focusing on green solutions such as solar energy and green hydrogen, RTA is actively contributing to the Dubai Government’s initiatives and strategies for a more sustainable future, with a focus on reaching net-zero emissions by 2050.
