MT Group Signs Contract to Build Green Hydrogen Station in Klaipeda Port
Key Ideas
  • MT Group to construct the first hydrogen station in the Baltic States, with a total value of 10.5 million euros.
  • Green hydrogen production using PEM electrolysis planned to begin in 2025, with an expected output of 500 kg per day.
  • Hydrogen will be stored in high-pressure tanks for reliable supply, aiming to be used for various transport and industrial purposes.
  • The project aligns with Lithuania's Energy Development Program to promote advanced technologies and reduce fossil fuel use.
MT Group, an EPC Contractor, has signed a significant contract with the Klaipeda State Seaport Authority to construct a green hydrogen production and refuelling station in the Port of Klaipeda, Lithuania. This initiative, valued at 10.5 million euros, marks the first hydrogen station in the Baltic States. The project includes design, supply, installation, and commissioning of the necessary technological equipment for the station, which will utilize PEM electrolysis to produce green hydrogen. The station aims to produce 500 kg of hydrogen daily, stored in high-pressure tanks for consistent supply. The Port of Klaipeda's commitment to sustainable energy is highlighted through this pilot project, with plans to utilize the hydrogen for port operations, rail, road transport, and potentially refueling commercial ships. The station's construction aligns with Lithuania's Energy Development Program, focusing on advanced technologies and hydrogen promotion to reduce fossil fuel usage.
