  • The tank system consists of two vacuum insulated tubes with a capacity of 44 kilograms of LH2 each, enabling a range of over 1,000 kilometers.
  • Five hydrogen trucks equipped with SAG's cryogenic tank system are currently in real-world logistics operations in Europe.
  • SAG Group emphasizes the importance of establishing a nationwide infrastructure for the success of hydrogen-powered vehicles and green mobility.
The R&D experts at the truck aluminum tank manufacturer, SAG Group, have successfully developed a cryogenic hydrogen tank solution for trucks, particularly the Mercedes-Benz GenH2 Truck. The system, comprising two interconnected vacuum insulated tubes capable of storing 44 kilograms of liquid hydrogen (LH2) each, has demonstrated a range exceeding 1,000 kilometers. This innovative solution has been showcased at the IAA trade fair in Hall 23, Stand 30. Currently, five hydrogen trucks fitted with SAG's cryogenic tank system are actively operating in real-world logistics scenarios across Europe. The special valve system in the tank design, intended for extremely low temperatures, ensures safe refueling and a reliable supply of hydrogen to the fuel cell. CEO Karin Exner-Wöhrer highlights the necessity of a comprehensive infrastructure, particularly along major traffic routes, for the widespread adoption of hydrogen-powered vehicles. The success of green mobility relies on the availability of green hydrogen in ample quantities.
