Avolon, a global aviation finance company, and Air New Zealand have partnered to support the commercialization of electric aircraft and novel propulsion technologies. The agreement includes a memorandum of understanding for research collaboration and the sale and leaseback of a BETA Alia CX300 electric cargo aircraft. The aircraft, designed by BETA Technologies, will be used by Air New Zealand for cargo operations between Wellington and Blenheim in partnership with New Zealand Post. This collaboration reflects a joint commitment to developing clean tech aircraft and achieving the aviation sector's net zero 2050 goal.
