In a significant development for India's green energy transition, NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) and Honeywell UOP India Pvt Ltd (UOP) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore the production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). The MoU, signed by key executives from both companies on April 25, 2025, aims to leverage Honeywell's eFining™ technology and utilize carbon dioxide emissions captured from NTPC's power plants and green hydrogen to produce SAF. This collaboration focuses on conducting a feasibility study for SAF production as part of NTPC's Green Hydrogen Hub in Andhra Pradesh, showcasing NTPC's dedication to renewable energy projects. By combining Honeywell UOP's technical proficiency in SAF production with NTPC's green hydrogen initiatives, the partnership aims to contribute to decarbonizing the aviation sector. Additionally, this collaboration aligns with NTPC's ambitious target of achieving a 60 GW renewable energy portfolio by 2032, emphasizing the company's commitment to sustainable energy development and supporting India's green energy transition.
