NTPC Green Energy Limited has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Honeywell UOP India to collaborate on the production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). The collaboration, signed by D M R Panda from NTPC and Ranjit Kulkarni from Honeywell UOP, aims to conduct a feasibility study utilizing Honeywell's eFining technology and carbon dioxide emissions captured from NTPC's power plants and green hydrogen. The focus of the partnership is to explore SAF production as a crucial element of NTPC Green's Green Hydrogen Hub project located in Pudimadaka, Andhra Pradesh. This initiative, covering 1,200 acres, is designed to serve as an integrated hub for green chemicals and sustainable manufacturing. By leveraging Honeywell UOP's expertise in SAF production and NTPC's dedication to renewable energy and green hydrogen projects, the collaboration signifies a significant advancement in decarbonizing the aviation sector. It also supports NTPC's strategic objective of achieving a 60 GW renewable energy portfolio by 2032, showcasing a strong commitment to sustainable energy development and India's transition to green energy. The SAF production at the Green Hydrogen Hub is expected to play a crucial role not only in advancing green aviation but also in promoting sustainable practices in manufacturing and chemical industries within the region.
