  • The collaboration combines e1 Marine's methanol-to-hydrogen power systems with STAX's emissions capture technology to reduce pollution.
  • Funded by South Coast AQMD and CARB, the project aims to deploy in early 2025, showcasing effective and sustainable maritime emissions control.
  • The initiative promotes cleaner power for barge operations, demonstrating viable solutions to reduce port emissions and improve air quality.
e1 Marine and STAX Engineering have announced a collaborative partnership to advance emissions capture and control technology for ocean-going vessels. This initiative aims to accelerate decarbonization in the maritime industry by combining e1 Marine's methanol-to-hydrogen power systems with STAX's emissions capture and control technology. The project, funded by the South Coast AQMD and California Air Resources Board (CARB), is part of California Climate Investments, focusing on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving public health. e1 Marine will install its M2PWR system onto STAX's barges to demonstrate the safety, effectiveness, and sustainability of emissions capture and control for maritime vessels. This collaboration not only showcases the technical prowess of both companies but also aims to meet regulatory requirements and comply with evolving emissions mandates. The partnership seeks to provide low to zero-pollution alternatives to fossil fuels, supporting the maritime industry's decarbonization efforts. STAX's C&C technology can remove a significant percentage of particulate matter and nitrogen oxides from vessel emissions, contributing to cleaner air quality in coastal communities. Overall, this collaboration represents a positive step towards a cleaner and more environmentally friendly maritime industry.
