A.P. Moller – Maersk celebrated the name-giving of its latest dual-fuel methanol container vessel, Albert Maersk, in Mumbai during its maiden voyage to India. The vessel is part of Maersk's fleet capable of running on methanol, emphasizing a shift towards green shipping. The naming ceremony was attended by dignitaries, including the Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and the Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports. India's potential in green fuel production, particularly methanol, ammonia, and hydrogen-based fuels, was highlighted during the event, with Maersk showing commitment to supporting sustainable maritime practices in the country.
