Revolutionizing Coastal Transport: Sea Cheetah and H3 Dynamics Partner for Hydrogen-Powered Innovation
Key Ideas
  • Sea Cheetah Corporation and H3 Dynamics are collaborating to develop a hydrogen-powered wing-in-ground effect vessel to connect coastal and island communities.
  • The Sea Cheetah WIGE utilizes a hydrogen-electric powertrain, enabling speeds exceeding 135 knots and complying with maritime regulations.
  • The partnership includes the deployment of decentralized green hydrogen production systems for quick vessel refueling, offering enhanced range and payload capacities.
  • The lighter aircraft powertrain allows Sea Cheetah vessels to carry three times more payload, be ten times faster than boats, and ten times more fuel-efficient than aircraft.
Miami-based Sea Cheetah Corporation and hydrogen propulsion firm H3 Dynamics are teaming up to create the 'Sea Cheetah WIGE,' a hydrogen-powered wing-in-ground effect vessel that aims to provide zero emissions transport solutions for coastal marine transport. The Franco-US partnership will see H3 Dynamics leveraging its expertise to develop a hydrogen-electric powertrain for the vessel to fly a few meters above the water at speeds exceeding 135 knots. The Sea Cheetah WIGE falls under the classification of a WIGE ship by the International Maritime Organisation, sidestepping FAA jurisdiction. The collaboration will also introduce small, decentralized green hydrogen production systems to ensure quick refueling and vessel turnaround. Sea Cheetah CEO Serge Markoff highlighted that the partnership will enable the vessel to significantly enhance its last-mile delivery capabilities to remote communities. H3 Dynamics CEO Taras Wankewycz mentioned that the hybrid hydrogen-powered powertrain will revolutionize the vessel's range and payload capacities, opening up new applications globally. By amalgamating advanced technologies, Sea Cheetah vessels are set to outperform traditional air and watercraft in payload capacity, speed, and fuel efficiency. This partnership marks a significant step towards sustainable and efficient coastal transport, offering a glimpse into the future of zero-emission marine technology.
