  • STAX's C&C technology and e1 Marine's M2PWR system offer low- to zero-emission alternatives, promoting a cleaner and more environmentally friendly future for maritime operations.
e1 Marine and STAX Engineering have partnered to accelerate the decarbonization of the maritime industry by integrating e1 Marine’s methanol-to-hydrogen power systems with STAX’s emissions capture and control technology for ocean-going vessels. This collaboration, funded by South Coast AQMD and the California Air Resources Board through California Climate Investments, aims to reduce port emissions and improve air quality in coastal communities. The project will showcase how the M2PWR system can provide cleaner power for barge operations while in port. By combining technical expertise, the partners will ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and emissions mandates. The technology demonstration project, expected to deploy in early 2025, will see e1 Marine installing its M2PWR system on STAX’s barges to support onboard power requirements. This initiative aims to demonstrate the safety and effectiveness of emissions capture and control technology for maritime vessels while promoting sustainability. STAX, known for its CARB-compliant C&C technology, and e1 Marine, offering low- to zero-emission alternatives, highlight their commitment to a cleaner future for the maritime industry. STAX CEO Mike Walker expressed excitement about integrating e1 Marine’s power generator running on hydrogen fuel cells into their operations, prioritizing environmental friendliness. The patented STAX C&C technology effectively removes particulate matter and nitrogen oxides from emissions before release. This collaboration signifies a step forward in providing immediate, effective solutions for emissions control in the maritime sector.
