AECOM has been selected as the Owner's Engineer for the Aberdeen Hydrogen Hub, a significant project led by bp Aberdeen Hydrogen Energy Limited (bpAHEL), a collaboration between Aberdeen City Council and bp. The initiative's first phase will focus on constructing a green hydrogen production facility powered by a solar farm, along with a refueling station for buses and trucks. Eloise John, Director of Energy at AECOM, expressed enthusiasm for contributing to Aberdeen's journey towards low-carbon transportation and net-zero aspirations. AECOM is dedicated to supporting the growth of green skilled workers and ensuring local job transition and supply chain readiness for the global energy transition. The company has assembled a specialized team to manage contractor interfaces, prioritize safety in design, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and conditions. In addition, AECOM will lead stakeholder communications to facilitate project delivery. Having successfully navigated planning stages and provided crucial design integration, AECOM is positioned to spearhead the project towards the final investment decision, signaling a positive step towards sustainable infrastructure and economic development in Aberdeen and beyond.
