Air Liquide's Major Investment to Boost Low-Carbon Mobility in Normandy and Ile-de-France
Key Ideas
- Air Liquide will invest 50 million euros in a new hydrogen packaging and delivery supply chain along the Seine Axis to support low-carbon mobility, utilizing renewable hydrogen from their Normandy electrolyzer.
- The investment includes supplying hydrogen to a growing number of vehicles, including hydrogen taxis, corporate fleets, buses, and trucks, significantly contributing to decarbonization in the region.
- A quarter of the production capacity will be dedicated to decarbonized transportation, equivalent to powering 500 hydrogen trucks or 10,000 light vehicles, while the rest will supply customers in the industrial basin.
- This initiative reinforces Air Liquide's commitment to the renewable and low-carbon hydrogen value chain, supporting the energy transition and fostering ecosystems towards a low-carbon society.
Air Liquide is set to invest 50 million euros in establishing a new hydrogen packaging and delivery supply chain to refueling stations along the Seine Axis in France. This initiative is part of Air Liquide's effort to develop a low-carbon hydrogen ecosystem in the Normandy industrial basin. The hydrogen for this new packaging site will come from the Air Liquide Normand’Hy electrolyzer, which is currently under construction and will have a capacity of 200 MW. The investment aims to accelerate low-carbon mobility in the Normandy and Ile-de-France regions, contributing to the decarbonization of industry and transportation.
The supply chain will cater to the increasing number of hydrogen vehicles in the region, including hydrogen taxis, corporate fleets, buses, and trucks. Air Liquide plans to use a significant portion of the production capacity from its electrolyzer to supply renewable hydrogen for decarbonized transportation along the Seine Axis, which will have a substantial impact on reducing carbon emissions. Additionally, the remaining production capacity will be utilized to supply customers in the industrial basin, further supporting decarbonization efforts in the region.
Emilie Mouren-Renouard, a member of Air Liquide’s Executive Committee, highlighted that this investment represents a crucial step in promoting low-carbon transportation along the Seine Axis. The project emphasizes Air Liquide's commitment to the renewable and low-carbon hydrogen value chain, showcasing its dedication to the energy transition and the advancement towards a low-carbon society.
