Arriva Netherlands has secured a long-term contract to provide sustainable bus and train services in Gelderland, starting in December 2025. The contract, initially spanning 10 years with the potential for extension to 17 years, involves the operation of services in the Achterhoek and Rivierenland regions. Arriva, already established in the area, will expand its operations by introducing electric buses to replace the current fleet and by enhancing its trains' comfort and energy efficiency. The company's commitment to sustainability aligns with Gelderland's aim for emission-free bus services by 2030. The new services will also include additional trains to meet rising demand along specific routes. Anne Hettinga, Managing Director of Arriva Netherlands, expressed enthusiasm for the contract win, emphasizing the opportunity to invest securely, grow operations, and contribute to passenger satisfaction and local sustainability goals.
