Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) and KPIT Technologies have partnered to advance hydrogen-based mobility initiatives in Kerala, as part of the National Green Hydrogen Mission. The collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding signed at the Global Hydrogen and Renewable Energy Summit in Kochi, involves the establishment of Hydrogen Refuelling Stations (HRS) in Kochi and Trivandrum to support pilot projects in hydrogen-powered public transportation between the two cities. This initiative represents a significant step towards safe and sustainable hydrogen-powered transport in the region.
The agreement underscores a commitment to promoting indigenous hydrogen technology for clean mobility, aligning with the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. BPCL plans to utilize a locally developed alkaline electrolyser for hydrogen production, while KPIT Technologies will contribute with an indigenously designed fuel cell-powered bus.
