The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has announced the awarding of a AED1.1 billion ($299 million) purchase order for 636 buses, including 40 electric buses, to enhance the city's public transport system. The initiative, in line with European low carbon emission standards (Euro 6), aims to improve resident and visitor mobility, support Dubai's Urban Plan 2040, and boost global competitiveness. The Director-General of RTA highlighted the goal of increasing public transport usage to 25% by 2030 and transitioning to zero-emission vehicles by 2050. The new buses will feature innovative technologies such as Driver Behaviour Monitoring and Automated Passenger Counting systems to enhance safety and service quality. Additionally, the buses are designed for accessibility, comfort, and sustainability, reflecting Dubai's commitment to modernity and environmental responsibility.
