Honda has revealed the specifications for its upcoming fuel cell module, with production slated to start in 2027. The new generation boasts significant improvements over its predecessor, developed jointly with General Motors. The module, showcased at the 23rd International Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Expo in Tokyo, offers increased power output of 150 kW, reduced production costs, enhanced durability, and improved volumetric power density. Honda's focus on enhancing installation flexibility through downsizing and higher power density is highlighted, marking a notable step forward in fuel cell technology. Comparisons with Toyota's latest fuel cell generation were made at the expo, showcasing Honda's emphasis on technical details. The fuel cell module's dimensions, weight, energy density, and operational capabilities were provided, demonstrating the system's efficiency and adaptability. Alongside vehicle applications, Honda also introduced a fuel cell power generator at the expo, capable of supplying power to large facilities. This generator, utilizing the same fuel cell generation as the CR-V e:FCEV, can deliver up to 1 MW of output, making it suitable for emergency power requirements.
