Amara Raja Infra, a division of the $2 billion Amara Raja Group, has achieved a remarkable feat by successfully completing India's first green hydrogen fuelling station in Leh, Ladakh. The station, commissioned for NTPC Ltd, signifies a crucial advancement towards emission-free transport in the region, positioning India as a frontrunner in green mobility. Inaugurated by Union Power Minister Manohar Lal, the station will play a key role in supporting the operation of five hydrogen fuel cell buses in Leh. The project entailed a wide range of tasks, including designing, engineering, supply, construction, erection, testing, and commissioning, coupled with three years of operations and maintenance on a turnkey basis. Despite facing extreme conditions at an altitude of 3,400 meters above sea level and varying temperatures from -25°C to 30°C, the project was completed within two years, showcasing Amara Raja Infra's prowess in the green hydrogen infrastructure domain. The successful establishment of this green hydrogen station is anticipated to act as a precursor to future large-scale hydrogen mobility and storage initiatives throughout India. Furthermore, it will facilitate the development and deployment of similar hydrogen fuelling stations nationwide, aligning with India's broader objectives of embracing sustainable energy solutions. This milestone not only highlights technological innovation and sustainability in the transportation sector but also underscores India's commitment to fostering a greener and cleaner future for the country.
