NTPC, the state-run power producer in India, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with GRIDCO and CRUT in Odisha to advance green energy technologies, specifically focusing on green hydrogen mobility. As part of this collaboration, NTPC will establish a green hydrogen fuelling station in Bhubaneswar and introduce hydrogen buses for short-haul and long-haul operations. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has supported this project in Bhubaneswar. NTPC has a track record of successful green hydrogen projects, including a blending project in Surat, Gujarat, which has been operational for the past two years. The company has also implemented similar mobility initiatives in Leh, Greater Noida, and Kandla. Additionally, NTPC is working towards creating a green hydrogen hub in Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Furthermore, NTPC has set an ambitious target of achieving 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032.
