Vireon Hydrogen Oy has been awarded a 3.8 million Euro grant from Business Finland to establish a 5MW electrolyzer facility in Jyväskylä, Finland. This initiative is a crucial development for the Finnish hydrogen economy and marks a significant progression towards utilizing green hydrogen as a primary element for achieving zero-emission solutions. Managing Director, Per Øyvind Voie, expressed gratitude for the support received from the Finnish Ministry and Business Finland, emphasizing the importance of this grant in completing the green hydrogen value chain in collaboration with CEFMOF partners. Vireon is actively working on the Jyväskylä Hydrogen Hub, with plans for a hydrogen refueling station for heavy-duty transport already in progress, partially funded by a previous EU grant. The next phase involves the construction of an electrolyzer on-site, supported by the recent grant, to enable local hydrogen production. This will lead to a significant reduction in emissions within Finland's transport sector and the provision of green hydrogen to heavy transport operators. By securing substantial national and EU funding, Vireon is solidifying its role in driving Europe towards a sustainable, zero-emission future. Furthermore, Vireon's approval as Finland's first RFNBO fuel distributor by the Finnish Energy Authority is a remarkable achievement, allowing the company to supply RFNBO fuels across Finland, supporting the nation's clean energy transition goals.
