The Korea Railroad Research Institute (KRRI) is set to showcase eight groundbreaking innovations at the upcoming InnoTrans fair in Berlin. Among these innovations is the Evacuation Guide Robot designed for swift disaster response in tunnels, offering passenger guidance and advanced monitoring features. Additionally, KRRI will present the Hyper Tube eXpress, a high-speed ground transport concept utilizing low-pressure maglev technology for speeds up to 1,000 km/h. The institute's focus on sustainability is evident in the development of eco-friendly products such as recycled sleepers made from waste plastic and steel slag. Other innovations include rail wear detection tools, tyre monitoring systems for automated transit vehicles, and noise-reducing bellows for train gangways. One of the notable advancements is the battery-hydrogen hybrid trainset, featuring a hydrogen fuel cell and lithium-ion battery for enhanced efficiency. KRRI's ongoing work on this trainset, including successful test runs at their Osong center, highlights their dedication to pioneering environmentally friendly rail solutions. The institute's research efforts also extend to wayside transponders for streamlined train control information exchange.
