Egypt has recently introduced its national low-carbon hydrogen strategy with the goal of reaping economic and social benefits in the long run. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli highlighted that the strategy will not only support the development of clean and sustainable energy sources but also aid in reducing carbon emissions to fulfill international climate obligations. The strategy is projected to have a significant impact on Egypt's economy, with plans to boost the GDP by approximately $18 billion by 2040. Moreover, it aims to generate over 100,000 job opportunities and enhance energy security by diversifying energy sources. The government emphasized that this initiative will invigorate the energy sector, attract foreign investments, and improve economic efficiency by utilizing local resources. Egypt's low-carbon hydrogen strategy is designed to position the country as a frontrunner in the global low-carbon hydrogen economy by leveraging international experiences and innovations in hydrogen production and renewable energy. Recent developments include signing renewable energy deals for export, particularly focusing on green hydrogen and green ammonia projects. These agreements are anticipated to bring substantial investments to Egypt over the coming years. Additionally, a consortium has been established to explore the potential development of a green hydrogen project, signifying progress towards a more sustainable energy landscape in Egypt. The consortium's partnership with the government will pave the way for evaluating the technical and commercial feasibility of the project, marking a significant step towards a greener energy future for the country.
