The HyIron Oshivela project in Namibia, located in the Erongo region near Arandis, has been awarded the prestigious His Excellency Hage Geingob Award for Namibian Hydrogen Project of the Year. Launched in November 2023, this project is Africa's first industrial-scale production of iron with zero emissions. It achieves this by utilizing green hydrogen in a carbon-neutral process, marking a significant milestone in global decarbonisation efforts by replacing carbon dioxide emissions for every tonne of iron produced.
