South African International Relations and Cooperation Minister, Ronald Lamola, emphasized the importance of enhancing efforts for South African entities to participate in Africa, aiming at economic stimulation. During the symposium on foreign policy, Lamola highlighted government's focus on strengthening partnerships in Africa to overcome business challenges and create a favorable business environment. He praised South Africa's investment resilience in Africa, crediting this to a coordinated approach and initiatives by institutions like the Development Bank of Southern Africa and the Industrial Development Corporation. Lamola stated the government's commitment to collaborating with Southern African neighbors in oil and gas, green hydrogen, water resources, and trade facilitation to boost the economy and regional integration. Additionally, he stressed the necessity for global cooperation to address conflicts' economic impacts, referencing the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. Lamola reaffirmed South Africa's non-alignment policy and commitment to peace initiatives, citing actions like the Africa Peace Initiative and advocacy for Palestinian rights. The Minister also highlighted the importance of sustainable peace efforts in northern Mozambique and continued engagement in the Democratic Republic of Congo to support development objectives.
