BASF and AM Green B.V. have announced a partnership to evaluate and develop business opportunities for low-carbon chemicals produced with renewable energy in India. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) includes feasibility studies on low-carbon chemicals production and the offtake of 100,000 tons annually of green ammonia meeting EU standards. This green ammonia will be produced exclusively with renewable energy sources, including energy from pumped storage projects in India. Dr. Markus Kamieth of BASF expressed the commitment to sustainable transformation in industries and highlighted India as the suitable location for this initiative. Mahesh Kolli of AM Green emphasized the collaboration with BASF to drive the green transformation in the industry, focusing on downstream value chains of green molecules. AM Green's goal to achieve 5 MTPA of green ammonia capacity by 2030 aligns with India's and Europe's green hydrogen targets. This partnership aims to provide key green molecule feedstocks for chemical downstream industries, supporting sustainability and decarbonization efforts. AM Green, a leading energy transition solutions provider in India, is also developing capabilities for other green molecules like green caustic soda, e-methanol, olefins, and biofuels for decarbonization in various industries. The collaboration between BASF and AM Green signifies a significant step towards a sustainable and environmentally friendly future in the chemical industry.
