India has made a significant stride towards becoming a global leader in green hydrogen and ammonia production with the signing of a groundbreaking agreement to export Green Ammonia to Japan. The agreement, chaired by Union Minister Shri Pralhad Joshi, marks a pivotal moment in India's green energy journey, showcasing its growing prominence in the global green energy landscape. The collaboration involves key players such as Sembcorp Industries, Sojitz Corporation, Kyushu Electric Power Co., and NYK Line, with Sembcorp leading green ammonia production in India using renewable energy sources. This initiative will see Kyushu Electric Power Co. incorporating green ammonia into their energy mix in Japan, reducing coal consumption. Minister Joshi emphasized the historic significance of the agreement, highlighting India's advancements in green hydrogen and renewable energy under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's leadership. He announced live tenders for Green Ammonia production, part of India's strategy to incentivize a significant increase in Green Hydrogen production annually.
