Kandla Port in Gujarat is on track to make history as it prepares to house India's inaugural operational green hydrogen plant by July 2025. This pioneering venture will utilize indigenous electrolysers manufactured by L&T and will be situated at the Deendayal Port Authority, aiming to produce 18 kg of hydrogen per hour. The project, endorsed under the 'Make-in-India' initiative, will kickstart with a 1 MW capacity but is slated for future expansion up to 10 MW. Additionally, there are intentions to diversify into green ammonia production. The recent flag-off of the electrolysers by Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, signifies a crucial step towards establishing DPA Kandla as India's premier Green Hydrogen hub. During the ceremony, Minister Sonowal emphasized the commitment to sustainable practices and decarbonization in the maritime sector, aligning with the government's green energy objectives. Noteworthy attendees included high-ranking officials like T.K. Ramachandran and industry representatives such as the Chairman of DPA and a Senior Vice President from L&T Green Energy. The event marked a significant milestone in the port's journey towards becoming a beacon of environmentally friendly operations in the country.
