The trip included high-speed train rides, celebrations of partnerships, and discussions on trading relationships. In South Korea, Smith emphasized Alberta's commitment to being a trusted energy supplier and explored collaborations in hydrogen, ammonia, carbon capture, and lithium extraction for clean energy technologies. The visit also included discussions on energy and food security, as well as plans for bilateral trade growth. Smith highlighted the importance of partnerships in advancing innovation and expanding trade opportunities. In Japan, Smith celebrated the 45th anniversary of the Alberta-Hokkaido partnership, discussing energy and food security with Hokkaido Gov. Naomichi Suzuki. The visit also included talks on advancing innovation in areas like CCUS, AI data centers, semiconductors, and clean energy exports. In South Korea, Smith joined celebrations of 50 years of friendship between Alberta and Gangwon State, unveiling new signage at the Alberta Pavilion and exploring areas of cooperation in data centers, health sciences, tech, innovation, and sustainable energy trade.
