At the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference (ADIPEC) 2024, Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, unveiled Sarawak's strategic roadmap for hydrogen development. The Premier emphasized the need for affordable hydrogen production to drive adoption of green energy, particularly in public transportation. Sarawak aims to leverage its renewable energy resources, with plans to increase renewable energy generation to 10 gigawatts by 2030. By forming strategic partnerships with Japan, South Korea, and China, Sarawak is poised to boost its hydrogen industry and export hydrogen to these countries.
