Singapore's Sydrogen Energy, a technology firm, is set to enter the marine market in 2022 with a 250kW hydrogen fuel cell. The company announced this move following an exclusive agreement with Shanghai Hydrogen Propulsion Technology. The fuel cell, scalable for larger vessels, will convert hydrogen from various sources into zero-emission electricity. This initiative aligns with the goal of reducing shipping emissions, particularly for harbour craft and passenger ferries that have fixed routes and regular recharging opportunities. The development also corresponds with Singapore's regulation that all new harbour craft operating in the port from 2030 onwards must be fully electric. This partnership signifies a step forward in utilizing hydrogen technology for sustainable marine transportation.
