The Egypt Green Hydrogen project, located in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, has made a significant stride towards promoting green energy by securing a massive 397-million-euro contract to export green fuel to Europe. This initiative will see the project supplying green ammonia to Europe from 2027 to 2033, starting with an initial quantity of 19,500 tonnes in 2027 and the potential to increase this to 397,000 tonnes by 2033. The contract, priced at 1,000 euros per tonne, highlights the commitment to sustainable energy practices and signifies a pivotal moment in the global effort to reduce carbon emissions. The project, led by Fertiglobe in collaboration with Scatec ASA, Orascom Construction, and the Egyptian Sovereign Fund, was officially announced during the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) held in Sharm el-Sheikh.
