The Clean Hydrogen Partnership has initiated a €184.5 million Call for Proposals to enhance the hydrogen value chain in Europe through the Horizon Europe programme. This funding will focus on promoting cost-effective renewable hydrogen production, developing efficient hydrogen storage solutions, and delivering reliable fuel cell systems for heavy-duty vehicles and maritime use. Additionally, €80 million from the RePowerEU Plan will be allocated to advance Hydrogen Valleys in Europe. The goal of this initiative is to drive innovation in critical areas of the hydrogen value chain, demonstrating a strong commitment to clean hydrogen technologies for achieving climate neutrality and improving competitiveness in Europe. Valerie Bouillon-Delporte, Executive Director of the Clean Hydrogen Partnership, highlights the significance of continuous investment in research and innovation to establish a competitive clean hydrogen value chain within Europe. Efforts will be targeted at expanding the applications of hydrogen in key sectors, enhancing fuel cell technologies and hydrogen electrolysis efficiency, and addressing market challenges such as reducing production costs and ensuring material durability and safety. Moreover, the focus will be on strengthening Europe's hydrogen infrastructure to enable the integration of hydrogen ecosystems at both large and small scales, encompassing production, distribution, and utilization. This initiative reflects a forward-looking approach to empower clean hydrogen innovation and contribute to a sustainable energy future in Europe.
