Essar Energy Transition, a branch of the Essar Group, has revealed plans to construct Europe's inaugural 100% hydrogen-fuelled power plant at its Stanlow refinery in the UK by 2027. This significant initiative forms a crucial part of the broader decarbonisation strategy in the UK, aligning with governmental emission reduction objectives. The EET Hydrogen Power project, set to be developed in two phases, aims to reach a capacity of 125 MW of power with 6,000 tonnes per day of steam. By replacing hydrocarbons with hydrogen, the plant is expected to lower carbon dioxide emissions by 740,000 tonnes annually. The venture will not only replace existing boiler units but also play a vital role in achieving a 95% reduction in emissions at the Stanlow Refinery by 2030.
