Fertiglobe, a company formed through a partnership between the ADNOC Group and OCI Global, has ambitious plans to export green ammonia from Egypt to Europe, starting as early as 2027. This move comes as part of an agreement worth €397 million to supply green ammonia to the European Union until 2033 at a rate of €1,000 per ton. The export is contingent on the completion of the investment agreement for Egypt's green hydrogen initiative, ensuring a stable hydrogen supply for ammonia production. The company, in collaboration with other partners, signed an agreement to establish Africa's first integrated green hydrogen production plant in Egypt, known as the green hydrogen factory, during the COP 27 summit. Fertiglobe's production of green ammonia will be based at its factory on the Gulf of Suez coast, relying on green hydrogen generated at Egypt's green hydrogen factory. The initial production target is set at 74 thousand tons of green ammonia, with flexibility to increase production based on market demand.
