Fortescue, a technology and energy company, has joined forces with Belgian offshore installation services company Jan De Nul to provide shipping and subsea cable laying services that will connect North Africa with Europe. The collaboration aims to bridge high energy production regions in North Africa with high energy consumption areas in Europe, facilitating the delivery of green electrons to support the electrification transition. The partnership underscores a commitment to offering sustainable alternatives to carbon-emitting fossil fuels. Additionally, the agreement builds upon a significant joint venture agreement between Fortescue and OCP to supply green hydrogen, ammonia, and fertilizers to Morocco, Europe, and international markets. This partnership also involves exploring the potential establishment of manufacturing facilities and a research and development hub to advance the renewable energy sector in Morocco. Both companies emphasize the importance of reducing total energy needs worldwide through the efficient transport and consumption of green electrons.
