  • The investment by Ineos is the largest in the European chemicals sector in two decades, contributing to the economy and sustainability efforts.
  • CEO of Port of Antwerp-Bruges emphasizes the importance of the project for the European chemical sector and economy, praising its forward-looking and sustainable nature.
INEOS has successfully transported two massive furnaces worth €150m to Belgium for its Project ONE ethane cracker construction in Antwerp. The journey involved a 20,000 km sea trip with a detour around Africa's Cape of Good Hope due to Middle East conflicts. Four additional furnaces are expected by March to further advance the €4bn project. Once completed in 2026, the ethane cracker will have a capacity of 1.45m t/y of ethylene. The project aims to reduce carbon footprint and boost efficiency by utilizing low NOx burners and combustion air preheaters. Additionally, the furnaces are designed for potential hydrogen fuel use. Ineos' investment is a significant boost to the European chemicals sector, which has seen a decline in global spending share over the years. The CEO of Port of Antwerp-Bruges highlights the importance of Project ONE for the region's economy, emphasizing its sustainable and forward-looking impact on the industry.
