Finnish company P2X Solutions has commenced commercial production of green hydrogen at its groundbreaking facility in Harjavalta, Western Finland. This marks a significant achievement as one of the first green hydrogen plants in Europe. The company's CEO, Herkko Plit, highlighted that they are pioneers in this field at a European level. The plant, majority-owned by Swiss energy group Alpiq, boasts a production capacity of 20 MW and utilizes renewable electricity, particularly wind power abundant in Finland, to produce environmentally friendly hydrogen. P2X Solutions received a 26-million euro investment grant from the Finnish Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment and a 10 million euro capital loan from the Finnish Climate Fund, emphasizing the support for green initiatives in the country. Despite challenges such as rising inflation and increased demand for fossil fuels following the Ukraine crisis, P2X Solutions remains dedicated to advancing the market for clean fuels like green hydrogen. This initiative signifies Finland's commitment to sustainable energy solutions and its proactive approach in promoting renewable energy sources.
