Pre-ENNOH: Paving the Way for a Unified European Hydrogen Network
Key Ideas
- Future EU hydrogen transmission network operators established Pre-ENNOH to prepare for ENNOH's regulatory tasks by 2026.
- Management structure led by Christoph von dem Bussche and Ferencz I. Szabolcs appointed to steer activities.
- Pre-ENNOH will focus on developing deliverables like the integrated model and draft methodology for hydrogen, aiming for ENNOH's effective mission execution.
- The initiative aims to contribute to a well-connected European hydrogen infrastructure for competitive decarbonization of industry.
The EU hydrogen transmission network operators have set up a temporary cooperation known as Pre-ENNOH to lay the groundwork for ENNOH, which will handle regulatory tasks by 2026. This initiative aims to fulfill the responsibilities outlined in the Hydrogen and Decarbonised Gas Market Package. The appointed management, including Christoph von dem Bussche and Ferencz I. Szabolcs, will guide the activities. Pre-ENNOH will focus on developing essential deliverables required by the EU regulation, such as the integrated model by October 2025 and a draft methodology for hydrogen by December 2025. Additionally, efforts will be made to establish ENNOH officially, set up the secretariat, gather resources, and build capacities to ensure ENNOH's mission is carried out effectively. Christoph von dem Bussche emphasized the importance of this initiative in preparing for a well-connected European hydrogen infrastructure to support the decarbonization of industry. The collaboration with stakeholders like the European Commission, ACER, ENTSO-E, ENTSOG, and others will be crucial in achieving these goals.
