Tosyalı Algerie, the Algeria-based subsidiary of Turkish company Tosyalı Holding, has recently announced the commissioning and commencement of commercial production at a new direct reduced iron (DRI) facility in Bethioua, Oran. This facility, forming part of a four-phase flat steel complex investment, boasts an annual production capacity of 2.5 million metric tons and is capable of operating with both natural gas and hydrogen. With an existing DRI facility of the same capacity, Tosyalı Algerie now stands as the leading producer of direct reduced iron in Europe and North Africa. The company has already begun slab production at the flat product complex earlier this year, with plans to conclude the final phase of the investment by 2025. Upon completion, Tosyalı Algerie is set to achieve a substantial annual production capacity of 8.5 million metric tons of flat and long products. This strategic expansion positions the company for significant growth and dominance in the steel industry, solidifying its presence in the region and boosting its competitive edge.
