The Australia-India Strategic Research Fund (AISRF) recently granted funding to five Indian organizations for projects in emerging technologies under the Australia-India Strategic Research Fund (AISRF). The projects spanned diverse fields such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning, biotechnology, urban mining and electronic waste recycling, ultra low-cost solar, and clean hydrogen technologies. The recipients of the grants included Punjab Remote Sensing Centre in Ludhiana, IIT-Delhi, IIT-Bombay, IISc Bangalore, and AbGenics Life Sciences Pvt Ltd in Pune. These projects were chosen through a rigorous evaluation process to ensure scientific excellence and potential for significant impact. Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, emphasized the importance of collaboration in addressing global challenges and achieving sustainable development through initiatives like AISRF. The AISRF, a bilateral program between India and Australia, aims to strengthen their scientific relationship and tackle common challenges through joint research endeavors. Australia's Minister for Industry and Science, Ed Husic, praised the partnership for fostering innovative solutions to global issues, highlighting the success of over 360 collaborative research projects in the past 18 years.
