The India Hydrogen Alliance has suggested an additional $2.5 billion allocation to the National Green Hydrogen Mission to expedite the growth of a green hydrogen economy in India. The proposal aims to tackle issues such as slow project development and a lack of offtake agreements that hinder progress in this sector. IH2A advocates for demand-side incentives for industrial consumers and subsidies for shared hydrogen infrastructure to attract more offtake entities and promote the adoption of green hydrogen in industries like refineries, fertilizers, and heavy-duty transport. It also proposes the establishment of Green Hydrogen Development Corporations and the development of five new National Hydrogen Hubs to facilitate large-scale projects and industrial uptake of green hydrogen. By enhancing the funding for the mission, IH2A believes that India can achieve its green hydrogen targets by 2030 and encourage more entities to embrace green hydrogen as a sustainable energy source.
