Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Sembcorp Green Hydrogen India Private Limited (SGHIPL) have entered into a joint venture agreement to explore renewable energy and green hydrogen projects in India. The collaboration is geared towards supporting India's energy transition and development objectives. Apart from green hydrogen, the joint venture will also focus on green ammonia production, bunkering, emissions reduction for port operations, and other emerging green fuel technologies. By combining Sembcorp's expertise in renewables with BPCL's strength in the petroleum sector and infrastructure, the partnership aims to identify opportunities for decarbonizing challenging sectors. BPCL has set a target of achieving a 10 GW renewable energy portfolio to meet future energy demands and aims to become a Net Zero Energy Company by 2040.
