The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy in India has released guidelines for funding testing facilities, infrastructure, and institutional support for the development of standards and regulatory framework under the National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM). The scheme aims to address gaps in the current testing facilities for components, technologies, and processes within the green hydrogen value chain. It will allocate funds for creating new testing facilities and upgrading existing ones to ensure safe and efficient operations in the green hydrogen sector. The total budget for this initiative is set at Rs. 200 crore until the financial year 2025-26, with the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) leading the implementation. The mission focuses on establishing quality and performance testing facilities to enhance the quality, sustainability, and safety of green hydrogen production and trade. By promoting clean energy and self-reliance, the National Green Hydrogen Mission aspires to drive significant decarbonization of the economy, reduce dependence on fossil fuel imports, and position India as a global leader in green hydrogen technology and market innovation.
