Gensol Engineering Ltd and Matrix Gas & Renewables Ltd have successfully obtained a 237 MW annual capacity under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme to establish an electrolyser manufacturing plant in India. This achievement was realized through a tender facilitated by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). The Gensol-Matrix consortium has also secured an additional 63 MW in the first tranche of the SECI tender, totaling a cumulative 300 MW capacity along with Rs. 450 Crore incentive under the PLI scheme. This initiative, supported by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and the National Green Hydrogen Mission, is a significant step forward for India's renewable energy sector, particularly in the realm of Green Hydrogen production. Electrolysers serve as a pivotal element in the generation of Green Hydrogen and its by-products, contributing greatly to India's target of producing 5 million metric tons of green hydrogen annually by 2030. Furthermore, Gensol Engineering Ltd has also secured a bid for 116 MW of solar projects in Gujarat, to be spread across 27 locations under the administration of Paschim Gujarat Vij Co. Ltd. (PGVCL), the state's electricity distribution company. The company anticipates that these solar projects will be operational within a year subsequent to the issuance of the Letter of Award (LoA).
